When uploading data to your CZ GEN EPI account you will notice that you can set the privacy status for each sample under a ‘Sample is Private’ field. Note that data privacy is set to ‘public’ by default when uploading data. See information below regarding each status.
Private status
‘Private’ means that samples will only be visible to you and members of your group.
Public status
‘Public’ within CZ GEN EPI means that your data will be visible to groups or organizations with which you already have a data sharing relationship (for example, California DPHs with California Department of Public Health). ‘Public’ DOES NOT mean that everyone can see your data. Even if you decide to share your data with other groups and organizations, your sample private identifiers will remain private (only you and your group can see sample private identifiers).
What if my group doesn’t have a data sharing relationship with another group?
If your group does not have a data sharing relationship with another group or organization, ‘Public’ or ‘Private’ have the same end result (only people within your group can see your samples).
How can I establish data sharing relationships with other groups?
Data sharing is not a functionality we currently support within CZ GEN EPI. Setting up data sharing relationships with other groups is done by our engineering team on a case by case basis. Please contact our team if you would like further information at hello@czgenepi.org.
